A new venue and a large number of amazing works
This years event took place in the newly refurbished Marysville Information & Regional Artspace (MiRa) and in conjunction with Triangle Arts Group, presented a very high quality Art Show. Both the venue and show drew high praise from the opening night attendees, the participating artists, the invited judges Louise Foletta and Belinda Rogers and all of visitors who took the opportunity to view the month long event.
The opening night saw a large turnout of around 160 people who enjoyed music provided by Joe Talia, wines provided by Buxton Ridge Winery and the Australian Sparkling Wine Show and food platters provided by the Vibe Hotel, Marysville.
A total of 194 entries were received at MiRa in the weeks leading up to the event and were submitted by artists from across Melbourne as well as from the local and regional areas.
Our volunteers reported good attendances over the four days of the Melbourne Cup long-weekend and a significant number of works were sold as well as an extraordinary number of raffle tickets, with the prizes on offer being very popular.
The winners of the raffle prizes were:
1st Cindy McLeish MP – painting by Jillian Chandler
2nd Lorraine Thompson – Foodworks Hamper
3rd Lorraine Jones – Beechworth Bakery Hamper
4th Millie Pullen – Beechworth Bakery Hamper
Full credit for the event must go to the Art Show team, who worked tirelessly and did an incredible amount of work in the months leading up to the event to ensure its success. However, the event would not be possible without the continued support and generosity of our many sponsors, who contribute in a variety of ways and enable us to award cash prizes, in a range of categories to a total value of $4550.00.
To all of our sponsors, supporters and volunteers and also to the many artists who entered their works, we’d like to say a very big THANK YOU for making this event such a success once again and hope that you will continue to support it into the future.
