2017 Entry Forms Available this week
Marysville is 90km East of Melbourne in the picturesque mountains of the Great Dividing Range. The 2015 show was at the Marysville Community Centre in Falls Road.
Marysville Art Show - bigger every year
In 2016, Triangle Arts Group presented a polished Art Show that drew praise from our visiting artists and judge.
Opening night was well attended, with around 120 people enjoying music from Jo Talia, wines from the Murrindindi Winemakers Association, Buxton Ridge and the Australian Sparkling Wine Show and a most impressive cheese platter from the Vibe Hotel, Marysville.
A huge number of entries were received at the community centre in just a few hours, and the new stacking system devised by Terry Donovan and supported by the Lions Club of Marysville was put to good use so we could keep the multi-purpose venue clear for its other weekday uses.
There was a variety of local and regional works, with a surge in entries from textile artists - perhaps inspired by our own Lynne Stone. The Artist’s on the Acheron joined in again, and works were presented by children from Marysville and Buxton Primary Schools and beyond.
Pleasingly our volunteers reported good sales across the weekend along with gold coin donations and a healthy lot of raffle tickets.
While the show itself is only only open for the 5 day Melbourne Cup ‘Weekend’, a huge amount of preparation work is required months ahead of the event. This year’s team, lead by Robyn Dean, used feedback from last year to improve many elements of the complex show.
One major improvement was Marysville and Triangle Community Foundation assisting the Men’s Shed to begin an education program for Steel Art Stand fabrication, learning skills that will see the show into the future as it continues to expand.
Thank you to the many businesses and community groups that supported the event in so many ways. Funds raised from the show will be returned to the community through arts based projects.
